Tavia & Jimmy, February 19, 2011

I just want to tell my daughter, the recent bride, how beautiful she looked on her wedding day.  It wasn't just the hair and makeup (although both, done by my step-daughter and daughter, were outstanding), it was the huge smile plastered on her face all day, placed there by her new husband.  I also admire the fact that Tavia and Jimmy did such an outstanding job on the decor; from the tiny keepsake bottles of sand taken from the beach where he proposed, to the programs printed on beautiful paper - everything was created with such graceful taste and style.

Tavia displayed such elegance and class in her choice of wedding attire.  The bridal gown, strapless and simple, had only details of beading and seed pearls at the bodice and below the empire waistline, a very full silk skirt, which was extraordinarily refined and sophisticated.  I loved that she didn't take it over the top with any flashy jewelry, despite the simplicity of the dress, but chose instead beautiful and tasteful pearl stud earrings (sent to her by her friends) and a single strand of pearls around her neck.
Her shoes were very bridal...nothing strappy or too high, but traditional, formal peep-toe pumps with a gathered band which were the same color as her dress and the soles were engraved on the bottom with their initials.
They were as perfect as the dress.  We visited a nail salon the day before for mani-pedis, and she chose a very light, pearl color because, as she stated, she didn't want "too much."  I just loved this.  Her look was simple elegance, which allowed her natural beauty to shine through all day.  She also chose a blushing veil, which was so classic.  I hope these veils are making a fashion come-back because they are a lovely wedding tradition - having the groom wait, and then remove the veil to see the full radiance of his bride's lovely face at the moment he is permitted to bestow the first kiss upon his new wife is captivating to witness.

So, Tavia, I want to tell you (if you ever actually read your Mom's blog, which is doubtful) that my pride in you was overwhelming that day.  You were a stunning bride.  And the fact you already sent your beautiful thank you notes made me even more proud.  I love you.
