Autumn

I love everything about autumn and, even though it's early in the season, the golden hue of the sunlight and the sun traveling in a more southerly direction to set each night lets me know that soon the heavy sweaters and jackets will make their way down from the upstairs closets, my flip flops and open-toed sandals will be boxed up and my sundresses and light tops will all be carried up to the transition closet.  I am already stocking our pantry with black beans and pumpkin to make this incredible soup, split peas to make that soup as well, whole grain flours to make homemade bread, zucchini shredded and frozen in bags, ready for the days I want to bake a Zucchini cake or bread.  And collard greens. I've purchased heavily scented candles which disburse heady fragrances of baking and pumpkin and orange all through the house.  I've made my front door display to welcome our guests and I'm ready to bake a few pies. So, friends, make some plans and come on over!
