I am amazed at what has popped up in the gardens this past week. My sadness over the passing of the apple blossoms has turned to excitement for the October to come, when these little babies will hopefully be made into apple butter or applesauce, then put up in sparkling jelly jars.
Ed and I went shopping at Southern States Saturday morning before Hannah's soccer game and bought a garden's worth of vegetable seeds, which Ed planted this weekend. We have butternut squash, zucchini, sweet onions, lettuce, spinach, sweet corn, beans, cucumbers, sunflowers, tomato plants, pepper plants, and I can't remember what else. I can't wait to enjoy it all.
Meanwhile, I think I want to post some shots I took this evening of all the beauty in our garden. The gorgeous Peonies have begun to bloom, and the wisteria vines are loaded with buds. Here's a peek at the peonies. I want to say they're my favorite, but I really love the lilacs. And the roses. And the Columbines....
